The purpose of the fund is to protect health and extend basic health cover as far as possible, seeking to reduce social inequalities, with a focus on child health. In particular, the Fund has two objectives:
>Overall Objective: to contribute to the improvement of the social and health conditions of the populations of developing countries, where Salute e Sviluppo operates through the implementation of international cooperation initiatives.
>Specific Objective: to guarantee free access to health services and treatment to children in developing countries (0-14 years old).
The Fund operates through the provision of a reimbursement (in part or total) of healthcare costs paid by existing healthcare facilities in the countries of cooperation – belonging to and/or managed by the Camillians – for paediatric patients (0-14 years old) who will benefit from the services totally free of charge.
The AMOC Mission Fund, established by SeS, can be financed by all stakeholders – whether individuals or companies – who recognise in it a social responsibility to fight poverty and to greater protection of human rights.
Donors can benefit from tax relief according to the law.

The Central African Republic (CAR) is one of the poorest countries in the world. The serious humanitarian crisis that has plagued the country for years continues to have dramatic repercussions on the social, economic and health living conditions of the population. The insecurity resulting from repeated clashes between rebel groups and armed forces has a negative impact on the country’s alarming state of underdevelopment, with most of the population lacking access to basic services such as health, food and water.
In terms of health, the country is in a chronic state of emergency due to limited access to medical care, lack of qualified and specialised personnel, drugs and adequate equipment. Health facilities outside the capital are almost non-existent and recent rebel attacks have significantly reduced access to the few centres and further limited their ability to provide care. Poor access to health care is even more evident for the traditionally most vulnerable population groups, such as women and children. In fact, as far as maternal and child health is concerned, maternal mortality levels continue to show alarming figures, with 829 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births (UNDP report 2020), neonatal mortality stands at 84.5 per 1,000 live births and under-five mortality stands at 116.5 deaths per 1,000 (HDI 2020).
Health and Development supports the Saint John Paul II Hospital in Bossemptélé, about 300 kilometres away and a six-hour drive from the capital, Bangui; it is the only hospital in the Bossemptélé sub-prefecture, which falls within Health Region No. 3. The coverage area and the catchment area are defined on three axes for about 80 km around Bossemptélé. The facility has an average attendance of 650 consultations per month, or 7,800 per year.
Your contribution is very important because it can enable more and more mothers to receive adequate care, reducing the risks for themselves and their children. Thank you!

Health and Development supports the efforts of Sneha Charitable Trust (SCT), a non-profit organisation linked to the Camillian Order of the Ministers of the Infirm, in caring for people living with HIV in different states of India. SCT adopts a holistic model of development for HIV infected children, providing comprehensive care to ensure their future. The care offered to orphaned and vulnerable children through Sneha Care Home and Shining Star school campuses is based on the intention to comprehensively address the multiple issues of HIV infected children, prepare them for a productive and constructive life, and provide them with a platform of protection from exploitation, abuse, violence and discrimination, in the absence of their near and dear ones. In a nurturing family environment, children are provided with educational and recreational opportunities, adequate nutrition and health care, psychosocial support, vocational training and skills acquisition. With a view to providing comprehensive care, the Snehagram campus was established, where the children move once they reach adolescence. Currently housing 60 children (35 boys and 25 girls), who attend NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) classes to complete their secondary education and receive vocational training based on their aptitudes, training focused on developing transversal life skills and language training.
All this will also be possible thanks to YOU. Their most sincere thanks will be your most beautiful reward!
