[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]International Volunteering was born with the aim of creating a cooperation relationship between the South and the North of the world. Volunteering contributes to the development of peoples and does not take a purely welfare form, but is a tool for local development. Salute e Sviluppo prioritises all forms of aid aimed at training and local autonomy.

A volunteer achieves their goal if there is no longer a need for volunteers in the place where they have served.

The characteristics of the volunteer must be:

  • Availability. Local operators must devote time and energy to follow the Volunteer throughout the first period after his arrival, at the same time the Volunteer needs time to understand the local reality. Therefore, Salute e Svilupporequires, except in exceptional cases or for some particular professional profiles, a medium or long period of residence.
  • Generosity. Salute e Sviluppo provides board and lodging for the volunteer. The rest of the expenses, including travel costs and insurance, are fully covered by the volunteer.
  • Comprehension. The Volunteer must understand and accept the local culture and philosophy of the project or mission where he/she will be placed. Salute e Sviluppor works mainly with Catholic missions, but also with lay partners of other religions.
